Campden Park duo remanded on gun, drug charges

Two Campden Park residents are expected to appear at the Serious Offences Court today after being placed on remand for 24 hours.

When Kenroy Spencer and Nabilia Gordon first appeared before the court yesterday, they were jointly charged that on January 13, 2017 at Campden Park, they had a firearm in their possession without a licence.

The duo was also charged that on that same day and place, they had 61 grams of cannabis in their possession.

Spencer pleaded guilty to both charges, while Gordon entered a not guilty plea.

Further, the duo seemed to have believed that Spencer’s guilty plea would result in Gordon’s immediate release, a belief that was quickly removed like a rug from under their feet when senior prosecutor Adolphus Delpesche indicated that he would need some time to consider Gordon’s not guilty plea.

Delpesche told the court that the offences are serious and he would need to seek advice on the matter.

As a result, Chief Magistrate Rechanne Browne-Matthias ordered that both Spencer and Gordon be remanded until January 17, 2017, when bail would be considered. (AS)
