Five men charged with recent Vermont murder

Five Vermont men have been remanded in custody, after being charged with the murder of Union Island resident Kamau Jones.{{more}}

Yesterday, Bridon Joseph, Courtney Joseph, Shemai Joseph, Malcom Pollin and Mark Weekes all appeared before the Serious Offences Court and were charged with causing Jones’ death on July 20.

They were not allowed to plead.

A preliminary inquiry into the matter will commence on November 1, 2016, when the five witnesses are expected to appear.

Additionally, Courtney Joseph landed three separate charges of possession of illegal ammunition.

He was charged that on July 21,2016 at Vermont, he had in his possession one round of .357 ammunition, three rounds of 12-gauge ammunition and nine rounds of 3.38 ammunition without a licence under the Firearms Act.

He pleaded not guilty to the charges and is expected to return to court on September 8, 2016. (AS)
