The 18-year-old, who is a resident of Belmont, is expected to remain in police custody until a Preliminary Hearing into the matter is held on August 16, 2016.

Reports are that last week Monday, May 2, officer Charles, while manning the entrance at the Belmont Primary School fair, tried to get a teen, who had entered the fair without paying the EC$2 entrance fee, to leave.

The situation escalated, resulting in Charles being stabbed. He was placed in a wheelbarrow, and then transferred to a pick-up truck, which took him to the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital (MCMH), where he succumbed to his injuries.

Joseph is being represented by lawyer Michelle Fife.
