Vincentian arrested in Barbados

Fancy resident Ijahsha Stay, will appear in the Barbados District E/Holetown Magistrate’s Court tomorrow to answer illegal entry charges after his arrest in a Barbadian police operation.{{more}}

The 22-year-old Stay and Barbadian Tony Barrow, 49 years old of Oistings, Christ Church were arrested and charged following the operation conducted by the Barbadian Drug Squad, assisted by the Marine Unit on January 15 at the Bridgetown Fishing Complex.

A Barbadian registered vessel, with five persons on board was intercepted and searched and US$22,650 and BDS$21,115 in cash was discovered.

Stay and Barrow appeared at the District A Magistrate’s Court on Saturday, with Barrow charged with two counts of money laundering and retaining foreign currency without permission; Stay was charged with entering other than at a port of entry and disembarking without the consent of an immigration officer on June 5, 2013.

Barrow, the captain of the vessel, was granted bail in the sum of $40,000, with two sureties; Stay was, however, remanded into custody. (DD)
