Police arrest Diaz for trespassing at a Hotel

Police arrest Diaz for trespassing at a Hotel

Naphtali Diaz, the young man from Paul’s Avenue, who in a recent interview with SEARCHLIGHT claimed that he had paid his debt to society and that police have a personal vendetta against him, is once again behind bars.{{more}}

According to reports, Diaz was arrested by police on Thursday, December 8, for allegedly trespassing on the property of the Murray Heights Hotel at McKies Hill.

Diaz appeared before the Serious Offences Court on Friday, December 9, but was denied bail by Magistrate Rickie Burnette, who was sitting in for Chief Magistrate Sonya Young.

One week later, December 16, Diaz reappeared before the Serious Offences Court and was again denied bail, this time by Chief Magistrate Sonya Young.

The young man was told that his case would be heard in the High Court on February 7, 2012.

He was therefore remanded to Her Majesty’s Prison (HMP).

Upon hearing the decision, Diaz was furious and while awaiting the police transport to return to HMP, the angry young man loudly expressed his feelings.

“I rather curse every one of you (using indecent language) and get charged for that, because I don’t understand how I could get lock up for trespassing at a hotel, a public business…

“Imagine that! You all going to eat cake and eat good food for Christmas, while I in jail. Well, well, I know you all don’t like me and I have to spend Christmas in jail for what?” an angry Diaz asked.

Diaz’s arrest came less than one week after he accused law enforcement officers of character assassination after police published his photo and name in a wanted list in relation to a series of robberies committed recently in and around Kingstown.

The press release, dated Friday, December 2, stated that the men are of interest to the police and may be considered armed and dangerous.

After pubilcation of the list, Diaz had turned himself into the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the police, where he was held for two days and released without being charged.
