Three men charged in Barbados for importation of drugs

Three Vincentian men have been charged in connection with a drug bust which took place in Barbados earlier this week.{{more}}

Rodney Dennis Deroche, 26 year old fisherman, of Questelles; Samuel Alphonso James, 39 year old landscaper, of Park Hill; and Charsin Aaron Thomas, 29 year old electrician, of Clare Valley have been charged with the offences of Possession, Possession with intent to supply, Trafficking, and Importation of cannabis.

On Monday April 18, 2011, about 4.40 pm, an operation carried out by the Barbados Drug Squad, and assisted by members of the Barbados Coast Guard and the Regional Security System, led to the seizure 10 polyphene bags and 1 package of cannabis, weighing 323 lbs, valued approximately Bds $650,000.

This seizure occurred some 8 nautical miles off Needhams Point, Christ Church, Barbados. One boat was also seized.

The men were expected to have appeared at the District A Magistrate Court in Barbados, yesterday, Wednesday April 20.
