Browne, 32, a fisherman of Chateaubelair, appeared at the Kingstown Magistrateâs Court on Tuesday before Senior Magistrate Donald Browne and pleaded guilty to having 5,993 grams (13 pounds) of cannabis in his possession on July 31, 2010.
He was jointly charged with his girlfriend, Amrida Nash, 17. She pleaded not guilty and as a result, the prosecution withdrew the charge against her.
Police officers went to Browneâs home to execute a search warrant in respect of drugs and found a crocus bag containing the controlled substance in a hole in the ceiling.
Under caution, Browne said he was set âset upâ by someone and the drugs did not belong to him. (KW)
