Three charged with possession of ganja

Three men were charged for the possession over 200 pounds of marijuana when they appeared at the Serious Offences Court on Tuesday, March 16, 2010. They were arrested between March 12 and 13, 2010.{{more}}

The first to appear before Chief Magistrate Sonya Young was Mala Fergus of Mount Grennan who was charged with the possession of 39, 229 grams (about 86 pounds) of cannabis with intent to supply. He pleaded not guilty to the charge and was given bail of $45,000 with one surety. He was also ordered to surrender all his travel documents and to report to the Colonarie Police Station every Monday between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. He will return to court on April 16, 2010.

The other two men were jointly charged for the possession of 58, 232 grams (about 128 pounds) of cannabis with the intent to supply. The men, Alex Keizer and Samuel Barber, both of Colonarie, pleaded not guilty to the charge and were each granted bail of $62,000 with one surety. They were also ordered to surrender all travel documents and report to the Colonarie Police Station every Monday between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. The case was adjourned to May 28, 2010.
