Two men held for gun ammo and cannabis

Two men appeared in court this week on charges related to the appearance of two women, Keishell Patterson and Latoya Fredericks, who were charged with gun, ammunition and cannabis possession last week Monday at the Serious Offences Court.{{more}}

Andy Quashie and Matthew Quashie, both of Layou, appeared at the same court on November, 23 2009, and were charged with: possession of one Smith and Wesson revolver, possession of two rounds of .38 special ammunition and possession of 5,448 grams of cannabis with the intent to supply.

Andy, who is currently serving a prison sentence on another matter, and Matthew pleaded not guilty.

The prosecution asked that they not be granted bail on the grounds that they would interfere with ongoing investigations and that they were flight risks.

Chief Magistrate Sonya Young denied bail for Andy and he was put on remand. Matthew was also remanded and is to reappear at the court on November 30, 2009, for bail review.

Fredericks and Patterson also appeared at court on Monday and were granted bail of $15,000 with one surety. They were also given reporting conditions. Fredericks was ordered to report to the Barrouallie Police Station every Monday, Wednesday and Friday between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m., while Patterson was also ordered to report to the Layou Police Station on the same days between the same hours. Both were ordered to surrender all travel documents. All matters were adjourned to February 12, 2010.
