Guns and ammo on the increase
The presence of guns in this country seems to be growing considerably. On Tuesday at the Serious Offences Court, four persons were hauled before Chief Magistrate Sonya Young on gun and ammunition charges.{{more}}
Jamel Telemaque, 21, labourer, of Canouan, pleaded not guilty to having one .22 pistol and one round of .22 ammunition in his possession at Canouan about 8:20 am on August 1, 2008.
Telemaque was granted bail in the sum of $12, 000 with one surety. He was also ordered to surrender his travel documents and report to the Canouan Police station on Mondays and Fridays between 6am-12pm. His matter was adjourned to October 8 for hearing.
A second man, Bernard Prescott, 32, labourer, of La Croix, was arrested and charged with having one double barrel 12 gauge shot gun at Mesopotamia about 8:15pm on August 3. He, too, appeared before Chief Magistrate Young and pleaded not guilty to the charge. He was granted bail in the sum of $12,000 with one surety. The matter was adjourned to October 10.
Murrayâs Village resident, Michael Seaton was remanded to her Majestyâs Prison after he was charged with assaulting Lennox Miller, 51, Mason, also of the same address, by pointing a gun at him about 6:30pm on April 19, 2008. His matter was adjourned to October 13.
