Man wins lotto, gives money to daughter
It pays to honour your parents, literally.
Augustus Timothy of Simon, who won EC$254,000 in the January 19, 2017 lotto draw, on Wednesday revealed that he will give it all to his daughter, Jennita Lewis.
At a short handing over ceremony on Wednesday, at the National Lotteries Association (NLA) building, Timothy explained his decision to give the money to Jennita.
âWhen I call on she, she never ever turn me back…I want her to spend the money wisely,â Timothy said.
He said when he discovered he had won the draw, he was surprised.
âI always dream of Super 6 [numbers], I never dream of lotto [numbers]…. I go back to the lady to buy a ticket and they say somebody win by she…, so me say let me check me ticket and dem, and when me check me ticket and dem, I saw that I won….I call me daughter one time….â said Timothy.
When asked how she felt, Jennita said she was shocked speechless, but happy.
NLA general manager McGregor Sealey congratulated Timothy and asked Jennita to spend the money wisely.
Product development officer Anthony Dennie said the winning numbers were 10, 14, 25, 30, 31 and that the lottery booth just outside the Little Tokyo Bus Terminal had issued the winning ticket. He elaborated that 1.5 per cent of the $254,000 jackpot will be paid to the agent who sold the winning ticket.
Dennie said that two weeks prior, a presentation was made to the Super 6 jackpot winner and the new Super 6 jackpot is now $480,000. Dennie encouraged persons to continue supporting all games of the National Lotteries Authority, which in turn supports sports, culture and nation building.(CB)
