King Bubba headlines Bequia Mount Gay Music Fest 2018

It’s just one week to go before the Bequia Tourism Association’s Mount Gay Music Fest kicks off its four-day, fabulous weekend of live entertainment in Bequia, January 18 to 21.

Headliner King Bubba and the FM Band out of Barbados, with Teddyson John, will join a thrilling programme of daily and nightly events at the Frangipani Hotel, Bequia Plantation Hotel and De Reef, with music to suit all tastes.

Saxophonist Rob Zii out of St Lucia, SVG’s own talented pannist Rodney Small and international acclaimed violinist Darron Andrews are just some of the varied mix of performers at this annual festival, which attracts international and regional visitors, for the up close and personal, live entertainment experience. Also featured will be Mr Gwad Benz out of Dominica, Lennox out of Barbados, Stefan Roach of Trinidad, Onika Best of Barbados, and the melodious voice of Anguilla’s Deanna of X Factor fame, as well as SVG’s K-Netic, Luta, Dynamite and much more, with sound by Platinum Sounds.

The action kicks off at Frangipani Hotel, where the fabulous 14-piece Elite Steel Orchestra from St Vincent will perform on Thursday, 18 January from 9 p.m. Then, on Friday, 19 January, it’s Jazz and Blues night under the stars at the beautiful Plantation Hotel. American blues and Jazz guitarists Shaun Munday and Sean Harkness, as well as the Impac Jazz Band of SVG, with Andy Cruickshank, and Deanna Mussington will also perform. Friday’s headliner, one of a kind guitarist Toby Armstrong and his band, will ensure another superb night of entertainment dedicated to the blues at its very best.

Saturday afternoon is the relaxing music under the palms for five hours of great entertainment, including bongo drum player Onika Best, the Barracuda Band of Carriacou, the Bequia Blues Band, and headliner Rob Zii and Phyness.

Saturday night is fete night at De Reef for soca fans, with headliner King Bubba and the FM Band and Teddyson John out of St Lucia, who will guarantee “this is too much vibes to miss”. Mr Gwada Benz of Dominica, as well as Bequia’s Rockstone Band, with the original Colin Peters, are sure to rock the place Saturday night……. DJ Shatta will continue until…

The ever-popular Music by the Beach at De Reef in Lower Bay on Sunday is the finale, guaranteed to see huge crowds flocking to see a wide variety of acts, including the Bequia “Kids on Pan” Steel Orchestra, the Denzil Bacchus Blues Band, plus the extraordinary Lennox and other surprise guests. SVG’s Luta, Dynamite and K-Nectic are sure to bring the weekend to a high voltage close at the massive Music Fest Finale.
