It’s Jazzy’s and all natural

When you think natural health and beauty products, Jazzys All Natural is surely one of the enterprises that comes to mind.

Endowed with a love of nature, Jasmin Deane did not have a clue that she would be engaged in producing a line of unique health and beauty products, which is getting the nod of health-conscious clients and slowly taking her places.

“I was asking God for something to do with my life,” explained the petite Deane. “I prayed a simple prayer” and the idea “just dropped into” her spirit.

That was just over three years ago, but her business did not start as a commercial venture.

Her first product was a coconut oil soap, which given to family and friends. Their feedback propelled her to experiment with guava, papaya, pumpkin, the rain tree and more.

Soon, Deane was offering for sale to the public, a limited number of products from a trestle table in the capital Kingstown. However, one year ago, in May, 2016, she opened the Jazzys All Natural shop on the first floor of the De Nobriga building in Kingstown.

The range of products available has grown from soaps to shampoos and conditioners, facial masks, scrubs, insect repellants, and rubs for muscle pain.

Her coconut and vanilla body butter has been getting good reviews and she’s now developing a soap to go with it.

The tastefully arranged shelves that occupy the cozy room which is her shop are also stocked with goat milk soap, which is also a good seller. A sulphur soap was introduced last year, and the more recently turmeric cream and soap, which “tone up your skin naturally”.

Hair products include mango and hemp creams, while the cayenne pepper rub is “good for muscle pain”.

Then, there is “bug off”, a lotion made from neem and citronella, to protect against mosquitoes, and an oat meal and honey exfoliation scrub. Parents also have the option of purchasing all natural baby creams and soaps for their little ones; and pet lovers can obtain a shampoo made from moringa and the bitter melon vine, more popularly known as corilla.

There is the beginning of a line of men’s products, the first offering being a shaving cream which was produced this July.

The first anniversary since Deane opened her shop came with a “big surprise”, thanks to the public who acclaimed “Jazzys All Natural” as being best for natural health and beauty products. She received that accolade at the Best of SVG Awards.

“Attaining the award was actually a surprise, [but] just knowing that my customers and persons out there voted for me, endorsed my product, I felt confident,” said Deane, a little breathlessly.

A trusted assistant provides needed support in the shop.

“Doing something natural for the past year, as you go along you learn, but when you actually hear your customers endorsing it and telling you that this is the best natural product of beauty made in St Vincent, makes me feel good.”

Jazzys All Natural products may also be purchased online or locally at Massy Stores, Rhona’s Salon at Stubbs and on Bequia. Following her recent attendance at a trade fair, an outlet in St Lucia is also now stocking her products.

Deane is still amazed at how things have been unfolding, but is confident that “this thing didn’t happen without God.”

She may be reached at 526-1329.
