Cuban doctor undergoes emergency surgery after knife attack in Kingstown

A Cuban doctor had to undergo emergency surgery following a knife attack which occurred in Kingstown on Saturday, July 1.

SEARCHLIGHT understands that the doctor, who is the District Medical Officer for the Marriaqua District, suffered a severe injury to his abdomen while walking back to his home after attending the Fantastic Friday event at Victoria Park.

He apparently collapsed outside the premises of His Majesty’s Prisons at White Chapel, Kingstown where he was discovered.

The victim has been identified as Dr. Alfredo Batista Salgado, a medical doctor attached to the Cuban Medical Brigade.

He is currently warded at the Intensive Care Unit of the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital since the surgery which was performed early this morning.
