Between last week and this week there have been two Covid-19 deaths, taking the official death toll for the disease up to 108 from 106 where it has rested since February.

According to updates from the Ministry of Health issued on May 30 and 31, two 70-year-olds, a woman and a man, both with underlying conditions and unvaccinated, are the most recent victims.

On May 26, the male tested positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus and died upon arrival at the Chateaubelair SMART hospital. The cause of death has been determined to be Covid-19 pneumonia.

The female tested positive for Covid-19 on May 24 and was admitted to the specified ward at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital (MCMH). She died on Monday, May 30, with Covid-19 pneumonia.

These deaths come after a period of almost three months without any recorded deaths from the disease. On February 21 a 92-year-old female who had tested positive on February 11, was the 106th patient to die of Covid-19 pneumonia. She was unvaccinated and admitted to the isolation ward at the MCMH.

Inclusive of booster shots, the Ministry has administered 71,004 vaccines against Covid-19. Of this number 36,573 are first doses, while 30,654 are second doses and 3,777 are boosters.
