Nurse charged with possession of nearly 60 kg of cocaine

Bail has been set at $200,000 with two sureties for an Owia nurse charged with possession of nearly 60 kilograms (60,000 g) of cocaine.

Lucresha Nanton appeared at the Serious Offences Court(SOC) today, April 20, having been charged with, at Owia, on January 22, 2022, being in possession of 59,939 g of the controlled drug, and possession for the purpose of drug trafficking.

Nanton, represented by lawyer Ronald Marks, pleaded not guilty to both charges.

Composite bail in the sum of $200,000 with two sureties was set by Chief Magistrate Rechanne Browne, and the usual conditions of surrendering of travel documents and enforcement of stop notices are attached to the bail.

Permission to leave the state must be requested, and she is to report to the Owia police station every Monday, Wednesday and Friday between 6am and 6pm.

The matter has been adjourned to June 20.

Nanton and what seemed to be the exhibit were escorted to the court by officers from Rapid Response Unit(RRU), including the arresting officer Corporal 615 Lafleur Williams.
