VINCY Cane Cutters helped build Cuba

VINCY Cane Cutters helped build Cuba

Ah playing neither Prophet nor Priest but ah was delving thru de Book of Matthew, one ah de chosen twelve Disciples whom Jesus tutored, literally walked wid, lived wid and talked wid

daily. Matthew in chapter 24 wrote ah powerful Peace on Wars. Allyo read it. Ah believe de Great Bob Marley read de whole chapter, and garnered inspi-rare-shun to write his fear-most

song, War. Very simple lyrics in de Chorus: “ War in the East, War in the West, War up North, War down South; War! War! rumours of War!”. Dat song is probably one of Bro Bob’s biggest

hits, but interestingly after his death, dey was War in de Courts (Lawsuits) over copy Rights, Royalties and Credits in relation to dat same song. In Verse 5 Bro Bob deals harshly in

rebuking leaders who are supposed to be honourable in character and purpose about injustices meted out to de less fortunate, permit me to quote dat last Verse: “And until the ignoble and unhappy regime that hold our brothers in Angola; in Mozambique, South Africa sub-human bondage have been toppled, utterly destroyed, Well, everywhere is war, me say

War!” Ley me add: “ War in Cuba, Venezuela, in Carry Come, Hate-he where-ever!”

We are well aware dat dey’s serious war all over de world, in de Far East is Russia and Ukraine, nothing much happening now but doh hold yuh breath, by month-end we could hear war in de far East has restarted. Right now dey’s ah major War, serious combat in de Middle East between

Father Abraham Generation de Jews (Israel) on one side, and on de other side, dey cousins de Muslims (Iran). And someway in de middle is Trump, pushing fire widout de approval of de US Congress. What ah man! We in the Carry-Beyond can’t sit easy either because Cuba and Hate-he

are on Trump’s clean-up calm-pain. As soon as de Middle East tek ah short break from War, dat’s like ah Sabbatical foh dem, “ one year of Peace for every seven years of War!” den de mad monk Trump will strike, if not sooner. Sir Done-all is hell bent on cleaning up de world before he

himself exits. Trump will soon be done and rest assured, dey’ll be others.

We in de Carry Beyond should not expect to be spared if we find ourselves in D’Evil one’s way. We might not be in any War wid Trump’s USA, Cuba and Venezuela, but we have our own serious battles. We battling: “crime, drugs trafficking, early gang-star-is-him among our Youths, unemployment, corrupt-shun and most of all de Battle of de Consciences i.e. silence on Right vs Wrong!”

And dis is what Prime Minister Calm-Allah Best-is-her of “Trinny-Daddy Toe-big-oh” was saying at de last (50th) Carry-Come Summit in Sin Kitts. Calm-Allah did not nice-up her words,

she call dem out! Bunch ah hypo-crits ah refrain from calling dem Crime-in-hell . While we in our small corner, “poor and polite” struggling and strangling to maintain Democracy and

dignity, say we nice-in up and friend-in up, forming alliances wid leaders of nay-shuns, purporting Democracy never, mo’ like de-muck-crazy. down-right Dictatorships! Torture-in, terror-eyes in and jail-in thousands aino-saint pull-it-tek-ill opponents. Our Carry-Come voices thru we leaders must be heard condem-in those known practicing Dict-hater-ship leaders.

Dat being said, we must support de Cuban and Venezuelan people, not de wicked dictator leaderships, D’s countries contributed to SVG’S development in Eddy-care-shun, airport and medicals. But let us also be humbly reminded, dat back in de 1920’s when de Cuban economy

was being built around Sugar Cane, our treasured Vincy cane cutters, among dem was my great-grand-uncle James Alexander who migrated to Cuba to cut Sugar Cane. Never returned.

So let us not allow far-rain Dictatorship destroy our beautiful Carry-Beyond Civil-lies-say-shun!

And wid dat is gone ah gone again.

One Love Bassy
