Keep Investing in De Youths
Bassy - Love Vine
August 29, 2025

Keep Investing in De Youths

BIG-ID-UP foh our young Sports-people. Dey doing our country and demselves proud, performing all over de world (NSEW).

Recently at de regional NACAC Senior Championship in de Bahamas, two of our most determined (nar-give-up) 800 metre stars,

Handel Roban and Shafiqua Maloney won Gold and Silver medals respectively.

They will next move on to de World Athletics Championships in Japan next month. Pray foh ah long over-due Gold pon dem.

And in Sailing, dem young people again! Dis time it’s Kai Marks-Dasent and Scarlet Hadley. Kai is ah 14 year ole who recently (Aug.

9 to 15) represented SVG at the prestigious 2025 UK Sailing Nationals held in Pwllheli, Wales. He secured an impressive 8th place in the Under-17 category silver fleet, a highly competitive fleet of 110 sailors for six days of racing. Kai was commended foh ah notable achievement foh such a young and relatively new competitor. Kia is much more dat ah Sailor, he is also ah serious Philanthropist. Up front sailing (solo) from St. Vincent to Mustique to launch fundraising campaign for Hurricane Beryl-affected students from Union Island Secondary School, In May dis year, Kai completed ah 42.8 mile, “solo sail” from mainland St.

Vincent to Union Island, again to raise funds for students of the Union Island Secondary School, who were affected in July, 2024 by Hurricane Beryl, helping them pay for their CSEC exams. Kai covered de distance in six hours and 3 minutes. Lie-Za covered her mouth and said: “Foh ah 14 year ole,he alone in dah rough weather? He good!”

And last week between Aug 15 and 17, when Kai was creating His-story in Wales, his sailing counterpart, 18 year ole Vin-sentshun, Scarlet Hadley was 7, 000 miles away, representing SVG as part of an eleven member Carry-Beyond Sailing Squad at the Junior Pan-American Games in Paraguay, South America. She delivered ah record-making performance in the Games. Hadley has been a trailblazer for SVG sailing on the international stage for over three years. We are advised dat this performance was another first time in de sport of Sailing way St Vincent and the Grenadines has competed in these Games.

Ah commendable effort by de SVG Sailing Association, de SVG NOC, as well as other regional Sailing Association pulling to-get-her the strength of the Caribbean sailing community.

Finally bid-id-up foh people like Bob Hiddocks, Cap’t Frank Olliverre, Fitz Richardson and others all gone to de great beyond, foh introducing sailing foh kids over sixty years ago, at Canash Beach Bar now CSY. Dey started dis Sailing Sports wid dingies etc for their kids.

Marie Warner Goal Tun Gold Lie-Za wishes to disrespect no one, but she got nuff to say bout what she calls de Medi-senile sorry, May-dis-anal Can-ah-bliss Industry in SVG dat is now ready and going “full bast” or “blasted full” what-ever, but her Grand-mother told her: “doh be too quick to ink!”

Now she’s bin watching Sew-shell Me-dey and saw ah powerful pro-motion dat says: “ The world’s leading medical grade cannabis manufacturer based in Saint Vincent & The Grenadines.” She wants me to scape-goat fee she, and is asking wid dis legal-I-say-shun of and dis-pen-say-shun in in de Marie- Warner In-dust-thee, what’s happening to and wid all dem original Rasta farmers, de pie-in-ears of de in-dust-tree. De hundreds ah young, innocent sorry, ain-no-saint strong men, harassed and driven out ah de hills?” Wasn’t dey supposed to be ah co-op or ah Gang-Jah Ah-sosee- hey-shun in which all Maria Warner Farmers were supposed to be members, way dat dey right now.

Why are our youths still being seriously charged and punished and foh possession of dis precious crop?

And finally she wants to know way she could get de promised Marie-Warn-her May-de-senile eye-drops foh diseases like Glaucoma in particular. Ah told her ah going to de Pool of Siloam in Jerusalem way Jesus did send de blind man to wash his eyes. And wid dat is gone ah gone again.

One Love Bassy
