Looking Forward to Palm Sunday
Bassy - Love Vine

Looking Forward to Palm Sunday

As ah youth-man, Palm Sunday uses to be ah big thing. Dey was ah United Church Parade foh members of de Cat-licks, Met-Dis, Angle-can, and Salvation Army. Just about everybody attending Palm Sunday Service assembled by 6:30 a.m. at de Court House, to be part of de “Marching” down Back Street.

De main feature of de parade was de Emblem; everybody had a palm leaf, or a blade of coconut branch made into a Cross. Dey was always lively, live music- ah Brass Band up front and de Salvation Army small Drum Side backing up de rear. It was ah lasting experience to march down Back Street singing, actually shouting “Hosanna” like de crowd did two thousand years ago, waving de branches, an’ pieces ah clothing as dey came out to welcome Jesus, on de First Palm Sunday. Long story dat, Jesus road on ah Foal (young Ass) dat was never ridden before. Lie-Za say Jesus had to be de Christ, nobody dare ride ah young donkey or horse foh de first time and ain’t get thrown on de ground.

No Port Fee De Storm

Ah watched an NDP Press Con-friends last week. It seems dat dey’s serious problems wid de construction work at de Kingstown Port, ah 700 million dollar project, dat is ranked No 2 to de Argyle Int. Airport in terms of cost. Doctor God- Win Fry-day is de Prime Minister- in- waiting, and so he cheered de session. But Dr Fry-dey is not ah “ Mr Knows it all”, de Press Con-friends was an engineering matter and his expertise is in Law, therefore wid Stewart and Cummings in de Party he has access to two of de better Engineers in SVG, one of whom is Glen Stewart ah Structural Engineer wid ah Masters in Water Resources and Hydrology. Stewart is ah former Minister of Works; de other is Hon Dan Cummings, ah Senator wid ah Masters in Engineer, and former manager of de CWSA. Incidentally dey are both members of de NDP which according to Lie-Za, NDP seems ready to assume office.

Based on Cummings and Stewart’s reporting at de Con-friends and from my limited over-standing of way going down, it seems dat somebody gave and somebody get “Ah six foh ah nine” wid dis project. Question asked is what bout accountability? did Go-venom-mint have ah technical add-vice-or on de job, If yes, who and where is s/he ? Why does de Pry-minister who is totally unqualified in Port Construction purporting to answer questions on de Project. How can he justify reporting on de project widout ah technical or professional advice-or? Dr Fry-dey’s team is concerned dat de Port will not be able to witstand anoter storm de magnitude of Hurry-Cane Beryl. Lord have his mercy on us. And wid dat is gone ah gone again.

One Love Bassy
