Colombian sent to Mental Health Center following weapon charge

A Colombian national was arrested by police and charged with the offence of possession of an offensive weapon.

Mateo Florez, a 41-year-old retiree, was held on April 16, 2025.

According to investigations, the accused was allegedly found in possession of an offensive weapon, namely, a cutlass, along the Rose Bank Public Road, without lawful excuse and with intent to commit an offence.

Florez appeared before the Layou Magistrate Court on April 17, 2025, and was admitted to the Mental Health Center for a two weeks evaluation.

The matter was adjourned to May 2, 2025.
