SVGTA has new Executive

The St Vincent and the Grenadines Tennis Association(SVGTA) has a new executive in place that will serve for the next four years.

Headed by President, Preya Griffith, the executive was installed last Saturday, March 22, 2025, at a General Meeting held at the National Tennis Centre, Villa.

Griffith was the preferred choice over Sebastian Cyrus, winning 16-12.

Cyrus went on to be Griffith’s deputy, as he beat off a challenge from James Bascombe, 26-2, in the race for the Vice-President.

Installed as Treasurer was Taj Ballatyne, with the new General Secretary being Yannick Grant, and Jada Peters- Public Relations Officer. The three were elected unopposed.

Completing the executive are the two Committee Members in Kirk Da Silva and Amarlia Benn.

The two squared off in the first round of voting, with Da Silva trumping 25-11. Benn then had Akira Samuel to contend with in the second round of voting. Benn got 17 votes and Samuel 11.

The Griffith- led executive replaces the Brian Nash unit. In January of this year, they had informed the Tennis fraternity, of their non- interest in serving the sport from a national administrative level.
