Currency mints century to sink Victors One
Former St Vincent and the Grenadines, Windward Islands and Combined Campuses and College’s batsman Rommel Currency, slammed 109 last Sunday at the Sion Hill Playing Field, to lead Guardian General Saints over Victors One, in the National Lotteries Authority Premier Division One-Day competition.
Currency’s knock contained 7 fours and 6 sixes, as he steered Saints to 204 all out in 47.2 overs.
Zane Edwards scored 34, and 28 extras, propped up the total.
Bowling for Victors One, Alston Bobb claimed 4 for 30 and Atticus Browne had 3 for 21.
Victors One though could not withstand the combined efforts of the ball from Jeremy Layne, who took 5 for 39 and Jeremy Haywood’s 2 for 27, and folded for 110 in 21.4 overs.
Miles Bascombe, with 34, was the lead scorer for Victors One, as Saints trumped by 94 runs.
At the Park Hill Playing Field, Team Rivals beat FLOW Radcliffe by 15 runs.
Team Rivals, choosing to bat, posted 218 all out from 45 overs. Leading the way was Hyron Shallow, who made 67, while Javed Williams contributed 33, and there were 28 extras.
Tijourn Pope, who took 3 for 25 and Richie Richards, 3 for 45, were Radcliffe’s most successful bowlers.
In reply, Radcliffe’s innings ended at 203 from 47.3 overs.
Asif Hooper, who scored 69 and Wayne Harper with 32, were the principal scorers.
Lindon James took 4 for 45 and Hyron Shallow, 3 for 29, as they combined to dismiss Radcliffe below the target.
