Reconstructed Hairouna Karate Federation looking for growth
The newly reconstructed Hairouna Karate Federation (HKF) Inc is hooked on the growth of the sport at all levels.
Expressing the intentions of the organisation was elected president Claude Bascombe Jr, following last Saturday’s Annual General Meeting held at the National Sports Council’s Conference Room at Arnos Vale.
“The mandate of the Hairouna Karate Federation is to develop karate at the Dojo Level and at the individual karate level … We are also looking for growth and development from the grassroots level,” Bascombe told SEARCHLIGHT.
According to Bascombe, the thrust towards the formation of the HKF, “came out of the necessity to allow karate to have a definitive future”.
“We are here as workers for the karate fraternity in St Vincent and the Grenadines with the hope of moving the sport to a new administrative level, where would not be only recognised locally and regionally, but internationally as karate is soon to become an Olympic sport,” the HKF president expounded.
Bascombe disclosed that the HKF Inc has affiliation to the Pan American Federation, but is seeking affiliation to the World Karate Federation.
The HKF Inc’s executive is completed by Adrian Shallow – vice-president; Karthina Providence – general secretary, Jerome Burke III – treasurer, with Simone Burnette, the assistant secretary/treasurer and Seon Stronghold – public relations officer.
Monica Davis, Cecil Millington and Rosette Stronghold are the committee members.
