Cricketers get special awards
RAYON WILLIAMS was among those placed in the spotlight last Saturday night at the St Vincent and the Grenadines Cricket Association Inc. Awards and Gala Dinner held at the Arnos Vale Sports Complex.
Williams, who played for SVG and Windwards Under-19 teams in 2018, and was called up to the senior SVG team for the Windwards tournament, was named as the recipient of the Clarence “Paddy” Thomas Youth Cricketer of the Year.
Copping the Phernel Charles local Female Cricketer of the Year accolade was Cordel Jack, with Juliana Nero, the Cinda Bobb Regional Female Cricketer of the Year.
Jack dominated the local cricket competition, while Nero’s exploits were at the regional tournament, playing for the
Windwards. Taking the Michael Findlay Regional Male Cricketer of the Year accolade was Obed McCoy, and Kesrick Williams, the Winston Davis International Male Cricketer of the Year winner. Mc Coy and Williams featured in the Caribbean Premier League with the St Lucia Stars, and had stints with the West Indies. Saturday’s event was held under the theme: “Cricket – The social and economic impact on our region”.
The keynote speaker was former West Indies senior team manager Ricky Skerrritt.
