Team Rivals lift national 20/20 cricket title
Team Rivals put in a good all-round effort last Saturday at the Sion Hill Playing Field, to lift the 2018 National Lotteries Authority Neil Williams Twenty/20 cricket title, beating Police Two by 36 runs.
Sent in to bat by Police Two, Team Rivals posted 145 all out from 19.1 overs.
Leading the way was Team Rivals’ captain Casmond Walters, who lashed 83. Walters struck 10 fours and 5 sixes.
Walters aided in his team’s recovery after being two runs 2 wickets, when he shared in a third-wicket partnership with Anson Latchman, which yielded 106 runs. Latchman contribution was 11.
The next best contribution with the bat was Deighton Butler’s 14.
Bowling for the lawmen, Andrew Thomas took 3 for 26, Romario Bibby, 3 for 34, and Darius Martin, 2 for 22.

Police Two was shackled by the slow bowling of Deighton Butler, who snared 4 for 34 and Roland Wilkinson, who took 2 for 25, as they folded for 109 in 19.5 overs.
Sylvan Spencer, came with a late order charge of 32, that included 3 fours and 3 sixes. Desron Maloney, Police Two’s captain, hit 21, while Beniton Stapleton struck 3 sixes in his 19.
A joyous Team Rivals at the end of the match, dedicated their victory to the late Carlos Veira.
Founder and financier of Team Rivals, Veira died on June 16, 2016.
Also, it was sweet revenge for Team Rivals, who lost to Police Two in the final of the national championship final last month.
