Two more centuries in Sunday League cricket

Two more centuries last weekend in the National Lotteries Authority Sunday League 50-over cricket competition, have brought the total to six in the 2017 edition.

Responsible for the third straight Sunday of individual scores of over 100, were Radcliffe Too’s pair of Calvon King and Imran Smith.

The duo’s innings helped Radcliffe Too to post 330 for 9 from their 50 overs, against Victors Two at the Arnos Vale One Playing Field.

King lashed 119, including 12 fours and 2 sixes and Smith was 102 not out.

Bowling for Victors Two, Shamic Roberts bagged 6 for 66 and Adinol Richards had 2 for 50.

In reply, Victors Two were dismissed for 207 in 32.2 overs. Cosmus Hackshaw stroked 51, Adinol Richards, 41 and Marcus McCoy, 37 not out.

Smith completed an excellent all-round performance, snatching 5 for 31, while Karan Green took 3 for 22, bowling for Radcliffe Too.

At Arnos Vale Two, Combined Youths eeked out a nine-run win over Glamorgan United. Combined Youths made 154 all out in 29.4 overs. O’Neil Endeavour led with 32, while Javid Cordice contributed 27.

Augustus Mofford snared 3 for 11, Godfrey Brewster, 3 for 37, Jerome Samuel, 2 for 29 and Adolphus Campbell, 2 for 35, bowling for Glamorgan United.

In reply, Glamorgan United fell for 143. Augustus Mofford top scored with 27, while Kevin Dowers added 23. Javed Cordice and Geron Wyllie both took 4 for 42 from 10 overs, bowling for Combined Youths.

But it was high tension at the Buccament Bay Playing Field, as Triumph United escaped from the jaws of defeat, to snatch a nervy one-wicket win over the much-fancied Providence Electronic Solutions North Leeward.

Benniton Stapleton with 43 and Michael Joseph, 39, were North Leeward’s mainstay, as their team tallied 177 all out in 30 overs.

The combined bowling efforts of Jide John, 4 for 40, Rohan Ash, 2 for 36 and Romel Jack, 2 for 37, helped Triumph United’s efforts with the ball.

North Leeward had it all their way, as Triumph United was 159 for 9. However, an unbeaten 10th-wicket stand of 19 valuable runs, took them over the line.

Kerwin Williams was the navigator of the last wicket heroics, making 29 not out, while higher up in the order, Lawrence Shoy struck 32.

Javon Samuel, 3 for 36 and Shammon Hooper, 3 for 43, were North Leeward’s most successful bowlers.
