Winlott Inc renews sponsorship of 2017, 2018 WICBC U15, U19 Cricket Tournaments
The Windward Islands Lotteries Inc (Winlott Inc) has renewed its sponsorship agreement with the Windward Islands Cricket Board of Control (WICBC) for the Under 15 and Under19 Cricket Tournaments for 2017 and 2018.
The two-year agreement was signed on December 20, 2016, by WICBC CEO, Lennox John and vice-president Elson Crick, with chair Murray Bullock, and executive director Allison Thomas on behalf of Winlott Inc.
Bullock took the opportunity to thank John for his service to Windwards cricket, noting it was an honour to work with him as CEO of the WICBC, and for the excellent working relationship maintained with the Winlott Inc secretariat, which he anticipates will continue with the new CEO. He extended best wishes to John, on his own behalf, and that of the Board of Directors of Winlott Inc, on his retirement, which took effect from December 31, 2016.
John initiated talks and negotiated with Winlott Inc for the sponsorship of the inaugural Windwards T20 in 2010, and subsequent tournaments up to 2013, after which that tournament was removed from the WICBCâs calendar of events. He was again instrumental in securing sponsorship from Winlott Inc for the Under 15 and Under 19 Tournaments in 2015 and 2016, and the current agreement.
The former CEO thanked Winlott Inc for supporting Windwards cricket, and expressed hope that this partnership would continue, in particular as it relates to youth cricket and its development, and commended the excellent working relationship between WICBC office and the Winlott Inc secretariat, over the years.
The two-year exclusive sponsorship agreement is valued in excess of $640,000, with $200,000 paid directly to the WICBC annually, and a further $120,000 contributed directly by Winlott Inc each year, for tournament prizes and uniforms for all teams and officials, as well as the training camps for the Windwards U15 and U19 teams, in preparation for the West Indies Cricket Board regional tournaments.
The tournaments will be named the WINLOTT INC/WICBC Under 15, and Under 19 Cricket Tournaments, and will be branded under Winlott Incâs Super 6 game.
