Covers, rain affect Saturday’s national 20/20 cricket matches
Porous covers and rain affected last Saturdayâs matches in the National Lotteries Authority Neil Williams 20/20 national cricket programme.
But effecting wins amidst the calamity were Smashers, Belfongo and Police.
Smashers rushed to a nine-wicket triumph over Radcliffe Too at the Arnos Vale One Playing Field in a Group B fixture.
Reduced to nine overs per side because of rain, Radcliffe Too made 42 for 5 from their allotment.
Kuthbert Springer took 2 for 13, bowling for Smashers, who then replied with 43 for 1. Rawdon Bentick led the charge with 23. Springer was named Player of the Match.
In a Group C match-up at Sion Hill, wet spots on the pitch, because of some porous covers, saw the encounter between Belfongo and the French Verandah Community College cut to a 10-over affair.
Belfongo got to 99 for 6 from their 10 overs. Stein Joseph was the top scorer with 23, and Ronaldo Franklyn picked off 3 for 19, bowling for the SVG Community College.
Player of the Match Tilron Harry scored 37 not out, but the SVG Community College fell short by nine runs, reaching 90 for 5 from their corresponding 10 overs.
The other Group C fixture, which was set for the Arnos Vale Playing Field between Guardian General Saints and Providence Electronic Solutions North Leeward saw no play, as a result of a wet pitch.
But at Buccament, Police registered a comfortable 74-run win over Victors Two, as that Group B match went the distance.
Police, on the back of 92 from Salvan Browne, posted 181 for 7 from their 20 overs. Browneâs innings contained 3 fours and 9 sixes. Donson Andrews contributed 23, while Adinol Richards took 2 for 35, bowling for Victors Two.
In their run chase, Victors Two could only make 107 for 9 from their allotment. Gerald Gould â 36 and Marcus Mc Coy â 22, were the main contributors to that total.
The combined bowling efforts of Romario Bibby â 2 for 17, Darius Martin â 2 for 24, Kenroy Martin â 2 for 27 and Kenneth Dember â 2 for 33, crafted the law officers another win in the competition.
Salvan Browne was adjudged Player of the Match.(RT)
