SVG Cycling Union unveils 2017 calendar

The St Vincent and the Grenadines Cycling Union has made known its 2017 calendar, comprising local, regional and international events.

Locally, the union’s programme will see the hosting of the 2016 cycling awards, set for February 24 at the Murray Heights Hotel.

The first road event is slated for February 26, with the staging of the Subway sponsored race, which is earmarked to utilize the Argyle International Airport circuit.

The National Heroes Day road race, March 14 and the DASCO Pharmacy event, March 26, set the active competition going for that month.

Cyclists will be engaged in a two-stage time trial April 8 and 9 and road race on April 16.

May 21, July 2 and September 24, are the dates set aside for the other road races.

The national championships are scheduled for June 4 and 11, with invitational road races on the agenda for August 5 and 6, as well as September 10.

Meanwhile, the union will have youth cycling come July 18 – 23.

Critical to the affairs of the union is the annual general meeting, which has been pencilled for April 29.

Regionally and internationally, the SVG Cycling Union has plans to participate in several championships in the Caribbean area, namely in Guyana, St Maarten, Martinique, Anguilla, Dominica, the Dominican Republic, the Bahamas and Puerto Rico.

And, president of the SVG Cycling Union Trevor Bailey will head out to the various congresses in his local capacity and as head of the Caribbean Cycling Federation.(RT)
