Hairoun Beer, Tus-t Water T20 Softball Cricket Tournament bowls off tomorrow
The first annual Hairoun Beer and Tus-t Water T20 Softball Cricket Tournament begins in earnest tomorrow, January 21, starting at 2 p.m. at the Clare Valley Playing Field.
The tournament was launched on Sunday, January 15 and is the brainchild of Scan Vybz Promotion. It is being held in association with Hairoun Beer and Tus-t Water.
Scan Vybz Promotion is an organization formed with the aim of uplifting the community of Clare Valley through sports, education and cultural activities.
The group comprises president Wesley âSnypaâ Edwards, communication officer Danielle Hall and public relations officer Joseph Ballantyne. The other committee members are Michael Hooper, Keyon Morgan and Kimron Morgan.
During the launch of the cricket tournament on Sunday, it was noted that the competition is a historical one, as the last T20 softball cricket tournament was held in Clare Valley 16 years ago.
Sundayâs opening saw a friendly match between Valley Stars and a Combined Team. Each team consisted of 15 players and when the dust cleared, Valley Stars emerged victorious over Combined Team with 116 runs. Combined Team were taken down in 9.5 overs with 35 runs; each team was allotted 15 overs.
There were nine sixes hit for the day and six of these sixes were struck by Kimron Williams. There were four fours struck, four of these by Carl Thomas. The best catch of the match was carried out by Shane Cordice. All these players were from Valley Stars.
