SVGNA president tells netballers to be ‘friends’
Faced with increased incidences of ill discipline at netball matches in the schoolsâ competition, the various area competitions and the national club tournament, president of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Netball Association (SVGNA) Doris Mc Intosh has called on players to be âfriendsâ.
Mc Intoshâs plea for calm came as she addressed the closing and presentation ceremony of the Cane End Netball Associationâs competition, last Sunday evening at the Cane End Government School hard court.
âWe must learn to play with each other on and off the court … You must be friends… Play and then you go home… Let the ill discipline die a natural death,â Mc Intosh urged.{{more}}
Mc Intosh reminded netballers that their sport is the lone discipline which is exclusively for women, âso we need to keep it well and alive.â
Reports are that while the revived Cane End competition was incident free, there were several instances in which ill discipline was evident.
Organizers of netball competition have in recent times been grappling with ill discipline among the women folk.
At the recent senior finals of the secondary schoolsâ competition staged at the Kingstown Netball Centre, there were on two on-court fights.
And, at the end of the match, there was part two of the fracas, which spilled over in the street and involved spectators.(RT)
