In championing the junior title, TOSS had to come from behind in the last quarter to stop the Barrrouallie Secondary from retaining the title.
TOSS went out hard in the first half of the encounter, taking the first quarter at 5-0 and the second 9-3.
Barrouallie, however, rebounded in the third quarter to finish with a slender two-goal lead 13-11 and set up a decisive last quarter.
But the TOSS team kept their focus and finished joyous 17-15 in a match befitting a final.
TOSSâ scoring was led by Ashanti Douglas, who poured in 12 of her 18 attempts and Jamelia Grant recorded 5 of her 8.
For the Barrouallie Secondary, Leah Gordon registered 11 of 13 and Brandy Hazelwood scored 4 of her 6 tries.
The two reached that title match, with convincing triumphs in the semi-finals. TOSS outscored Emmanuel High School 15-5 and Barrouallie had the better of the Girls High School, 20-12.
Barrouallie was to suffer their second defeat on the day and a second surrender of a title, as they self-destructed against Bethel High in the senior finals.
It was all Barrrouallie, 6-4, 12-11, 18-15 and eye on the prize after three quarters.
However, two of the Barrouallie players, including an Under-23 and senior national selectee, were unable to control their tempers and ultimately their fists, and suffered having to sit out the rest of the match.
This worked for Bethel High, as they measured their passes to good effect and methodically used the clock and the extra hands on the court to trump, 25-24.
Bethel High owe their win to the accuracy of Yanneisha Scipio, who was in fine form in the last quarter, finishing with 20 goals from 24 attempts, while goal attack Calisha Velox was equally good, sinking 5 of her 8 tries.
On the other hand, Barrouallieâs shooters were not as efficient, with Rochelle Williams scoring 12 out of 17 and Amica Hackshaw 12 out of her 20.
En route to last Fridayâs final, Bethel High had downed Bishopâs College Kingstown 24-13 in the semi-finals, while in the other game, Barrouallie swished Sandy Bay Secondary 39-22.
Sandy Bay went on to take the third place, outdoing Bishopâs College Kingstown, 31-15.
The triumphant teams and standout individuals have to wait to get their awards, as no closing and presentation ceremony took place last Friday.(RT)
