Elson Crick bows out of national cricket administration
After serving the national cricket administrative framework since 1988, with a one-year absence, Elson Crick has called time on his service.
When the St Vincent and the Grenadines Cricket Association Inc (SVGCA) staged its Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the Presidentâs Suite at the Arnos Vale Playing Field, and Crickâs name was nominated, he declined.{{more}}
Crick, who began his national service as a committee member, then served as first vice-president in the Lennox John, Julian Jack and Kishore Shallow administrations, told SEARCHLIGHT that he had made that decision four months ago.
He added that he wanted to give younger persons an opportunity to serve, in order to learn the craft of administering the sport, but promised to assist where he can.
Crick at the SVGCA elections of 2011 had told SEARCHLIGHT that he will not continue beyond the two-year term.
However, he took an about turn at the 2013 elections and was elected unopposed in the Julian Jack-led administration.
And, when the vote of no confidence was staged in May 2014 against Jack, Crick was re-elected first vice-president in the interim executive and continued in that post when the executive was given the charge to carry on unopposed at the December 2014 Annual General Meeting.
Crick has served the vice-president of the Windward Islands Cricket Board of Control and a West Indies Cricket Board director.(RT)
