Year One DASGS pounce on SVG Community College netball title
Year One Arts, Sciences and General Studies (DASGS) copped the 2016 East Caribbean Group of Companies (ECGC) SVG Community College Inter Divisional Netball title in a hard fought triumph over the Division of Teacher Education Team One.{{more}}
The new championsâ crowning moment came last Friday afternoon, at the Villa Campus court.
Year One DASGS took a 5-3 lead at the end of the first quarter, but the scores were levelled at seven a piece at the half way mark.
Year One DASGS pulled away 14 -11 at the end of the third period and went on to triumph, 19-15 at the sound of the final whistle.
Zomora Fraser of Year One DASGS was named player of the final.
Before the title match, the Division of Teacher Education Team Two won the third place playoff by the default route, as Year Two Arts, Sciences and General Studies could only field four players.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, marketing manager of ECGC Rachel Haslam lauded the females for their energy and interest in the sport, amidst the lure of the mobile devices.
She commended physical education lecturer and sports coordinator at the SVG Community College Roxell John, for his tenacity and organizational skills.
Sharing Haslamâs sentiments was deputy director of the SVG Community College Eula Adams, who commended John for his untiring efforts to see all sporting competitions executed with a high level of efficiency.
The next event on the SVG Community Collegeâs sports calendar is the individualsâ open tennis tournament, slated to begin November 30.(RT)
