SVGCB P’tani reach Masters’ cricket final
St Vincent Co-operative Bank Pâtani have made it through to the final of the SVG Masters 20/20 Cricket Competition.
An 11-run triumph over Mustique last Sunday at the Sion Hill Playing Field gave Pâtani a crack at the title, as they await the outcome of the pending semi-final between RSVG Police and North East.{{more}}
Batting first, Ptani scored 118 for 9 off their 20 overs, with Cassius Welcome making 28 and Jerome Samuel, 27.
Bowling for Mustique, Roy Baptiste had 4 for 29 and Vibert Williams, 3 for 19.
Mustique was cornered by the bowling of Orlando Mofford â 4 for 22; Elvis Woods â 2 for 15 and Michael Jack â 2 for 22, and could only reach 107 for 8 from their 20 overs.
Chadwick Carrington with 27 was Mustiqueâs top scorer.
Prior to last Sundayâs semi- finals, Mustique on Saturday overcame JG and Sons Glamorgan by 71 runs at the Park Hill Playing Field.
Mustique posted 190 for 5 off 20 overs; Felix Greaves was 80 not out, Michael Charles â 36, St Clair Bascombe â 24 and Julian Lampkin â 20.
Augustus Mofford, with 2 for 30, was Glamorganâs most successful bowler.
Felix Greaves then picked off 6 for 20, as Glamorgan jolted for 119 for 9 off 20 overs.
Jerome Dick scored 37 and Kenrick Buntyn, 24, not out, in a losing effort for Glamorgan.
Also on Saturday, in another quarter-final, RSVG Police was better than Stanley Browneâs Stubbs by eight wickets, as they engaged each other at the Sion Hill Playing Field.
Stubbs got to 123 for 9 off 20 overs. Dawnley Joseph led with 24, while Frankie Joseph snared 3 for 22 and Malcovin Jack took 2 for 23.
RSVG Police replied with 124 for 2 off 13.4 overs. Jeffrey Laborde struck 69 not out, Parnel Browne, 21 not out, and Oneil Thomas, 20.(RT)
