P’tani, North East reach Masters’ Cricket semis
St Vincent Co-operative Bank Pâtani and North East are into the semi-finals of the SVG Masters 20/20 Cricket Competition, following wins last weekend at the Park Hill Playing Field.{{more}}
Ptani defeated Computec Belfongo by 20 runs. Ptani had 141 for 8 off 20 overs, with Alfred McKenzie making 38. Bowling for Belfongo, Rohan King took 2 for 14, Elvis Browne, 2 for 22 and Bradley Brooker, 2 for 32. Belfongo in reply, were 121 all out in 18.2 overs. Elvis Browne made 24 and Sylvannus Morgan, 22. Orville Richards grabbed 4 for 9 and Isaac Haywood had 3 for 21.
Then, on Sunday, North East were better than Sion Hill by 62 runs. North East tallied 178 for 7 off 20 overs; Peter Campbell and Rawle Baptiste both stroked 31 and Arnold Gilkes contributed 28. For Sion Hill, Ronald Medford took 2 for 27.
Sion Hillâs batting failed to ignite and was sent packing at 116 in 19.3 overs. Lauren Baptisteâs 31 was the lone score of note, as Olanzo Jackson picked off 4 for 16 and Winsbert Springer, 2 for 33.
The remaining two quarter-finals are set for this Saturday, with defending champions RSVG Police taking on Stanley Browneâs Stubbs at Sion Hill and Mustique tackling JG and Sons Glamorgan at the Park Hill Playing Field.
Following Saturdayâs quarter-finals, the semis take place on Sunday, with North East engaging either RSVG Police or Stubbs at the Park Hill venue, while Pâtani faces the winner of the Mustique versus Glamorgan encounter. All matches bowl off at 1:30 p.m.
The grand finale is carded for December 4, at a venue to be determined by the organizers.(RT)
