Year One DASGS trump SVGCC Inter-Divisional Football Competition
Year One Division of Arts, Science and General Studies (DASGS) came away winners of the finals of the 2016 French Verandah National Lotteries SVG Community College Inter-Divisional Competition, last evening at the Victoria Park.{{more}}
Year One DASGS outscored Year One Technical and Vocational Education 3-1 in the championship match.
The competitionâs leading goal scorer, Hosni Chandler, got Year One DASGSâ tally going with an early first half item.
His goal was soon cancelled out, as Kanzandu Small pounced on ball to restore parity.
But Najima Burgin added another to put Year One DASGS back in the lead.Marcus Thomas carried Year One DASGSâ tally to three just before the end of the first half.
The second half proved to be a contest of attrition, with both teams making advances, but neither was able to breach the otherâs defence, as the score finished the same as at the end of the first period.
Before getting to finals, Year One Division of Arts, Science and General Studies beat Year Two Technical and Vocational 2-1 and Year One Technical and Vocational got past Year Two Division of Arts, Science and General Studies 1-0.
In the third place play off, Year Two Division of Arts Science and General Studies romped to a 4-1 triumph over Year Two Division of Technical and Vocational Education.
Finding the back of the net for the victors were Nyron Delpesche, Johmar John, Enrique Lynch and Kyron Prince, while Kewon Clarke replied with the lone item for the losers.
Before the serious affair, Teachers beat Students 2-0 in kicks from the penalty spot in a festival match, as the teams had drawn their encounter 1-1 in regulation time.
Speaking at last eveningâs presentation, Woodrow Williams, representing the Department of Physical Education and Sports, threw out the challenge to the authorities at both the SVG Community College and the Ministry of Education, that the winners of both the secondary and the collegeâs inter-divisional competition square off to determine the true Under-21 champions of schoolsâ football.(RT)
