New York Vincy Masters win one, lose one
The visiting New York Vincy Masters team had a mixed bag on the weekend, losing to North East on Saturday at the Park Hill Playing Field, but winning on Sunday at the Petit Bordel Playing Field.{{more}}
On Saturday, Deighton Butler belted 120, counting 10 sixes and 8 fours, while Oscar Ryan scored 21, to see North East to 180 for 5 from their 20 overs.
In reply, New York Vincy Masters made a fight of it, but could only reach 156 for 9 off 20 overs. Kesrick Charles struck 51 and Selwyn Caine, 31, to be the principal scorers.
Bowling for North East, Gerry Matthias took 3 for 9.
Fortunes shifted for the New York Vincy Masters on Sunday at the Petit Bordel facility, to win by 76 over Coreas Hazells North Leeward Masters.
Guest player William âBillâ Edwards stroked 77 and Ezekiel âSportâ Williams â 30, as New York Vincy Masters got up to 153 for 2 off 10 overs as the match was reduced because of rain.
Host team North Leeward could only make 77 for 5 from their 10 overs. Herbert Williams top scored with 25.
Edwards went on to take 2 for 11 and Orlando Mofford had 2 for 20, to share four of the five wickets that fell.
New York Vincy Masters are set to meet RSVG Police today, Tuesday, at Park Hill and face Sion Hill Masters on Thursday at the Sion Hill Playing Field, as they round up their tour.
Their first match, which was set for last Wednesday at the Sion Hill Playing Field, against JG and Sons Glamorgan Masters, was not played because of a wet pitch.(RT)
