Roberts, Stanley and Lynch earned the right to do so when they were crowned national champions last Thursday night at the Arnos Vale Netball Complex.

Roberts won the Under-18 male title, while Stanley and Lynch took the male and female open categories, respectively.

In what was the match of the night, Roberts warded off a determined Paulson Mack in a closely contested showdown, winning out in the end 2-1( 21-18, 18-21, 21-18).

A similar occurrence was witnessed in the male open decider, but Stanley, who has been formally trained to teach the sport here, prevailed 2-0 ( 21-17, 26-24) over Nimron Daniel as the two squared off in the final.

And, Lynch outplayed Unica Velox in the female final 2-0 ( 21-16, 21-10) to set her way to meet other regional competitors.

The World Championships will be played at the Springer Memorial Secondary School’s auditorium, and forms part of Barbados’ well publicized 50th anniversary of political independence.

Other competing countries are host Barbados, St Lucia, Guyana, Jamaica and the United States of America.(RT)
