Teams eyeing quarter-final places in Firms’ Football

Some teams have done enough to have assured their places in the quarter-finals of the league competition senior division of the Digicel/Aeropost/

Breakaway Masters Firms Football Tournament, while others are eyeing theirs.

Up to last Sunday’s matches, defending champions – the Ministry of Education and National Fisher Folks are locked at the top of Group One, both with 20 points from eight matches.{{more}}

Toni Combined Stores is on 16 points, also from eight matches, while SVG Port Authority sits on 14 points, also from eight fixtures.

Just outside and peering in at the top four in the group are Bonadies and Combined Couriers on 11 and 10 points, respectively.

In Group Two, CWSA is on top with 20 points from eight matches played, while RSVG Police has 14 points from their seven matches. Both Vinlec and CK Greaves are on 12 points from their eight matches.

Staking a claim to join in the last eight, and just outside of the top four in Group Two are Transport and Works and Massy Stores.

The preliminary round of the competition is set to conclude Saturday, October 29, as the quarter-finalists and their match-ups will be known.

Twenty teams, 10 in each group, are contesting this year’s tournament, which is taking place at the Grammar School Playing Field.(RT)
