No podium place for Vincentians in NACAC 10K
Both Vincentian representatives â Linda Mc Dowall and Pamenos Ballantyne â failed to gain podium finishes when the NACAC 10k took place last Saturday in Petit Bourg, Guadeloupe, on Saturday.
Mc Dowall, who placed third in last yearâs event, finished fourth this time around. Her time on Saturday was 39 minutes, which also put her 23rd overall.{{more}}
Mc Dowall finished behind the winner, Emily Setback of Canada, who timed 36 minutes 37 seconds, Trinidad and Tobagoâs Tonya Nero â
second in 37 minutes 17 seconds and third placed Maria Osoro of Venezuela â 38 minutes 32 seconds.
It was Mc Dowallâs best time recorded at the Guadeloupe event, bettering her times done at outings there in 2014 and 2015.
When Mc Dowall competed last year, she timed 39 minutes 09 seconds, which put her third and in 2014, Mc Dowall was fourth in 40 minutes 52 seconds.
Meanwhile, Ballantyne, who was the first from the English speaking Caribbean to cross the line in the 2014 and 2015 events, in 33 minutes 41 seconds and 33 minutes 49 seconds, respectively, and who on both occasions was sixth, but last Saturday finished 13th in the male category.
Ballantyneâs clocking was 37 minutes 39 seconds, which put him 15th overall of the 187 competitors who completed the course.
Taking the top male prize was Rwandaâs Jean Marie Uwajenza, who stopped the timing device at 32 minutes 31 seconds.
Second was Guyanese Cleveland Forde, in a time of 33 minutes 33 seconds, who was the first from the English speaking Caribbean to end the race.(RT)
