Local Organizing Committee’s volunteers get appreciation

Those persons who volunteered to serve on the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) and the World Cup Support Committee (WCSC) got an afternoon of appreciation for their service.

The occasion saw the volunteers receiving certificates of appreciation, memorabilia, plus a luncheon at the French Verandah Restaurant.{{more}}

Preparations were made for 25 persons; however, only seven showed up to be feted and given a tangible thank you for their input over the period they served.

Those who were present, however, made the best of the time and accepted with some gratitude what was given to them.

The occasion not only catered to the volunteers, but executive members of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Football Federation, who were the recipients of the expertise of both the LOC and the WCSC.

The LOC began its work in May 2015, ahead of St Vincent and the Grenadines’ preparations for the FIFA World Cup campaign.

The LOC and the WCSC were composed of several professionals in various fields and were drawn from both the private and public sectors.

Now that St Vincent and the Grenadines’ sojourn in the World Cup has come to an end, the LOC has the task of handing over all instruments, inclusive of a report and recommendations to the executive of the SVGFF.

Director of Physical Education and Sports Nelson Hillocks was the chair of the LOC.(RT)
