Aussies bag seventh Bequia 20/20 cricket title
Knights Trading Aussies made it seven titles in the annual Bequia Twenty/20 Cricket Tournament, when they diluted Sugar Reef Bequia United in the 2016 competition, which ended last Sunday at the Clive Tannis Playing Field.
Aussies added the 2016 title to previous title wins in 2008, when they shared it with Youth Combine, as well as championships in 2010, 2011, 2012, 2014 and last year.{{more}}
In achieving their latest crown last Sunday, Aussies recorded an uncomplicated 138-run triumph over their opponents to complete their second hat-trick of titles.
Led by Shem Browne â 75, Razine Browne â 45 not out, Salvan Browne â 41 and Dean Browne â 20, Aussies compiled 213 for 5 from 19 overs, as that was the number allotted, following a delay caused by rain.
The four brothers showed off their boundary and six hitting skills to good effect. Shem belted seven sixes and three fours, while Razineâs knock included five sixes and one four. Salvan knocked five sixes and one four, with Dean smashing two fours.
Adinol Richards was Bequia Unitedâs most successful bowler, taking 2 for 65.
When Bequia United batted, Meshack Williams snared 3 for 19; Dean Browne had 3 for 20 and Braxie Browne took 2 for 15 to send Bequia United packing for 75 in 11.5 overs.
In the end, Bequia United had to settle for the runner-up position, failing to relive their fortunes of the 2013 edition, when they ended at the top of the pile.(RT)
