Tied match highlights NL T/20 cricket weekend

An exciting tied match between Big League and North Stars topped the highlight reel of last weekend’s Vinlec North Leeward 20/20 Cricket Competition.

The two teams gave spectators at the Petit Bordel Playing Field last Sunday afternoon much to savour, as both ended on the identical score 165 all out.{{more}}

Big League of Rose Bank batted first and was dismissed in 19.2 overs.

Sangi John stroked 43 and Ansil Hooper 33. There were two wickets each for Kenneth Forbes, Atticus Browne, Javon Samuel, Renaldo Coombs and Rellan McKie.

North Stars of Troumaca equalled Big League’s 165, doing so off 16.4 overs.

Atticus Browne, 63 not out and Javon Samuel, 29, were the main contributors, while Jade John, Sangi John and Ansil Hooper, each took two scalps.

Fading light did not allow for the Super Over and both teams had to settle for two points each.

It was not the same dramatic finishes to the other three fixtures which were played.

On Saturday, Peto Stars of Petit Bordel smothered Kishore Shallow Coulls Hill Rangers by 175 runs.

Peto Stars amassed 248 for 5 off 20 overs; Shammon Hooper struck 63, Vidal Edwards 57 and Allison Samuel 51.

In reply, Coulls Hill 73 all out off 9 overs, as Ronique La Borde, Kenneth Westfield and Rohan LaBorde, all gathered two wickets to their name. Also on, Ajuba of Spring Village defeated Upsetters by 15 runs. Ajuba scored 113 for 7 off 10 overs, as the match reduced because of rain.

Kenny Stapleton led Ajuba‘s innings with 31 and Afeel Mason chipped in with 25. Desroy Samuel had 2 for 25 and Maxwell Edwards 2 for 13.

Upsetters fell short, as they reached 98 for 6 off their 10 overs; Cklon Mc Kie top scored with 27, while Ronald Franklyn picked up 2 for 13.

And, in Sunday’s first match Carlos James Troumaca Starlight got past Sharps United by 53 runs.

Troumaca Starlight put on 223 for 6 off 20 overs. National Under-19 player Tilron Harry crafted 65, Keshawn Lewis 42, Nicholas Alexander 33 and Donald Delpesche 32.

Replying, Sharps United scored 170 for 8 from their allotted 20 overs; Alfred Howe hit 64, while Edson Williams and Keven Robertson, both scored 23.

The bowling analysis for Troumaca Starlight saw Zimron Providence taking 3 for 20, Kwano Lewis 3 for 26 and Kentish John 2 for 25.

Another four matches are carded for this weekend.

On Saturday from 10 a.m. Circumstance take on Carlos James Troumaca Starlight and from 2 p.m., it will be Ruddy’s Electrical versus Ajuba.

Sunday’s fixtures pit Robertson Surveying Future Legend and Summerset from 10 a.m., to be followed by Rose Bank United against Kishore Shallow Coulls Hill Rangers from 2 p.m.(RT)
