Central Leeward Secondary come good in Round D Town Road Relay
The Central Leeward Secondary School topped the female division of the secondary schoolsâ category as the Round D Town Road Relay returned on Team Athletics SVGâs calendar, after being shelved in 2015.{{more}}
The quartet of Leana Lovelace, Chaunte Williams, Zita Vincent and Amanda Solomon, registered a time of 36 minutes 1.60 seconds to be the first female outfit to cross the finish line.
Central Leewardâs returns outdid the Thomas Saundersâ winning time of 37 minutes 24.01 seconds, who did not contest this time around.
Second in the secondary females segment was the Sandy Bay Secondary and third was Central Leeward Secondary, team two.
Significantly, in last Sundayâs race, Central Leeward was the first among the females to cross the finish line, ahead of the open category winners â IT- DAT Academy.
IT- DAT females clocked 36 minutes 28.05 seconds, while in 2014; they did 39 minutes 57.19 seconds.
X- Ceed finished second in the open female.
The other female segment contested was for the primary schoolsâ participants.
Repeat winners from 2014, when the Round D Town Road Relay was held, the Fitz Hughes primary females, clocked 47 minutes 05.54 seconds and were the lone team to complete the course.
The four runners from the North Leeward institutionâs time erased that set two years ago, when the schoolâs representatives timed 49 minutes 15.20 seconds.
Ten teams in the three categories started the event, with nine completing.(RT)
