‘North East’ Football League junior competitions conclude
The Otashie Spring led North East Football League completed its Under-13 and Under-17 competitions last weekend at the Colonarie Playing Field.{{more}}
South Rivers copped the Under-13 title after a 1-nil victory over SV United, while SV United emerged winners in the Under-17, getting past Greiggs in kicks from the penalty spot, after both teams had played to a goalless draw in regulation time.
In the third place play-offs, Sparta FC beat Owia FC 3-0 in the Under-13 and Chapmans United gained a 3-1 win over Park Hill in the Under-17.
It was Sparta FC which took three of the individual awards in the U-13 Division, as Amron Thomas had the most goals â 11, while Asroy Cruickshank was the Best Goalkeeper and Saviola Blake â Best Midfielder.
Emi Balcombe of SV United took the Best Defender award, but it was South Riversâ Kieann Mc Millan, who took the competitionâs MVP accolade.
The Under-17 MV was Dwayne Cupid of SV United, while Zidane Sam of Greiggs was the leading goal scorer with10 goals.
Taking the Best Midfielder position was Terris Joseph of Chapmans; Best Defender: Jay-z Ryan, SV United and Best Goalkeeper was Nickron Billy, Chapmans.
Springâs organization and the Georgetown Area Sports Association (GASA) are both claiming legitimacy for administrating the North East Football League.
