CADO Softball Cricket Competition going full steam

The Hairoun Calliaqua Area Development Organization (CADO) 20/20 Softball Cricket Competition is going ahead full steam at the Calliaqua Playing Field.

Last weekend saw victories for Calliaqua Masters, Glen United and Bamboo Blade.{{more}}

Calliaqua Masters defeated Old Trafford by 30 runs in a match reduced to 15-overs because of a late start.

Calliaqua Masters registered 103 for 3 off 15 overs.

Leading the way was the parliamentary representative for East St George Camillo Gonsalves who stroked 51, while Cassius Welcome posted 41.

In the run chase, Old Trafford was restricted to 73 for 8 from their 15 overs. Cassius Welcome, turning in a good all-round effort, snared 4 for 20.

Also on the weekend, Glen United secured a seven-wicket win over Smart Strikers.

When Smart Strikers batted, they were dismissed for 65 off 17 overs.

In response, Glen United reached 67 for 3 off 17.2 overs; Maxi Hackshaw scored 20.

And, Bamboo Blade beat Young Gunners by eight wickets.

Young Gunners could only make 34 off 12 overs, as Tony John grabbed 7 for 6, bowling for Bamboo Blade.

Losing two wickets, Bamboo Blade reached the target of 40 off 7 overs.

Another set of matches in the competition will be played this weekend at the same venue.
