Kiddy Cricket programme sifts out best
The top performers during this yearâs Scotia Bank Kiddy Cricket fiveâday camp, which took place at the Sion Hill Playing Field and the Technical College facility, have been named.
At the closing ceremony, Darren Stephens of the Lowmans Windward Primary was rewarded as the Best Batsman, with Joe Williams of the South Rivers Methodist named the Best Bowler.{{more}}
The other awardees were Jadel Cato, Richland Park Primary â Best Wicketkeeper; Courtney Franklyn, Chateaubelair Methodist â Best All-rounder; Best Girl performer â Shelisa Davis, Gomea Methodist; the Most Disciplined student â Israel Cumberbatch of the Kingstown Preparatory School and the youngest participant was Suniladro Woods, Diamond Primary.
The camp included classroom sessions on Injury Prevention, Nutrition, Conflict Resolution, Personal Hygiene Development, Substance Abuse and Laws of the Game.
Coaches Stanley Hinds, Cleton Burnett, Uzzah Pope and Gosnel Cupid imparted the cricket knowledge to the participants, while personnel from the Ministry of Education lent their expertise on the life skills topics.
Meanwhile, 20 of the 60 participants were selected for further training, as they were recognized as the best prospects emerging from the camp.
Those listed to go forward are Jenna Fredericks, Trevian Matthews, Courtney Franklyn, Joshua James, Shelisa Davis, Rashad Anthony, Joe Williams, Jadel Cato, Diquan Lynch, Kijon James, Kamal Lewis, Sunil King, Justin Stowe, Cenicia Matthews, Jovine Samuel, Antonio Baptiste, Darren Stephens, Kelvin Velox, Israel Cumberbatch and Rayshawn Mofford.
The 20 proposed players will be turned over to the grassroots progamme.(RT)
