GTC Junior Tennis Tournament hit by cancellation

The much anticipated Grassroot Tennis Club’s (GTC) Junior Tennis Tournament, which was set to serve off yesterday at the club’s base at Murray’s Road, will no longer take place.

The cancellation of the tournament was made known last Friday, the same day registration was supposed to close.{{more}}

Head of the GTC Grant Connell told SEARCHLIGHT on Saturday that several factors forced his organization to abort any further plans to stage the event. When pressed to give details, Connell said that the club will make a public announcement later this week.

“In the fullness of time, the public will know…. On Wednesday this week, the club will hold a small press conference, when I will give the full story behind the story,” Connell announced.

But whilst Connell has been tight-lipped, SEARCHLIGHT observed last Saturday that there were some minor alterations to the premises at Murray’s Road.

The Grassroot Tennis Club officially commenced operations in February 2010, under the theme: “Bring your racket and come”.(RT)
