Four awards fill U-23 volleyballers at ECVA women’s outing
Four individual awards highlighted St Vincent and the Grenadinesâ sojourn at the first ever Eastern Caribbean Volleyball Association Under-23 womenâs Volleyball tournament held in St Lucia last weekend.{{more}}
When the closing ceremony was staged last Sunday night at the Vide Boutielle Secondary School court, Vincentians Alicia Glasgow, Shernell Browne and Kaylah Leigertwood-Ollivierre, stepped forward to receive their awards.
Glasgow copped two awards – Best Server and Best Spiker who played Opposite, while Browne was listed as one of two Best Spikers who played as Outside Hitters.
Leigertwood-Ollivierre was one of two named as the Best Blockers.
The awards were dominated by St Lucia who got the other seven that were adjudicated.
Topping the list was the tournamentâs MVP Kerin Neptune. Carrying Neptune to the spotlight were her awards as the tournamentâs Best Scorer, the Best Receiver and one of two who got the Best Outside Hitter award.
Joining Neptune on the list of St Luciaâs awardees who got more than one trophy was Lovelle Auguste, who attained the Best Digger and the Best Libero titles.
St Luciaâs captain – Yosherbel Emmanuel was one of two Best Blockers on show in the tournament and her teammate, Skye Faucher Mondesir, also of St Lucia – the Best Setter.
St Lucia played unbeaten in the tournament, with Antigua and Barbuda â second and St Vincent and the Grenadines third. The other participating team was the British Virgin Islands.
St Lucia ended with four wins; Antigua and Barbuda had two wins and two losses, as they went under to St Lucia in both outings. St Vincent and the Grenadinesâ had two wins, both versus the winless British Virgin Islands and registered losses to St Lucia and Antigua and Barbuda.(RT)
